The Mission of the Endowment Fund
The Pancretan Endowment Fund represents a unique link between Cretans here in the United States and in Crete (Greece). We need to maintain and nurture connections like the PEF because they greatly increase the likelihood that our people, both here in the United States and in Crete, will continue to celebrate our Hellenic and Cretan identity and heritage.
The Pancretan Endowment Fund is considered one of the most successfully run programs of the PAA, not only because of its important mission, but because of its infrastructure.
The PEF is designed to assist the Universities of Crete, allowing them to enhance their educational faculties so that they may achieve equal status with American institutions of higher learning. This is achieved by providing educational programs, summer courses, internships, seminars and bi-lateral student exchanges for our youth. This is also achieved by forming stronger bonds of co-operation between the people in Greece and those living here in the U.S.
The various projects undertaken to date by the PEF, which you can read about on this site, have already made a lasting impact on Greece, and Crete in particular. We hope that this progress will continue.
